Join our team this summer at High Sierra Pools! We are currently looking for lifeguards, pool managers, and area lifeguards to join our Alexandria area team.
Our rates for certified lifeguards are among the highest in the industry!
If you’ve got good swimming skills and are looking for a fun summer job where you can make a difference in your community, this is the job for you. Flexible summer/seasonal schedules are available, including full-time, part-time, and weekend-only work.
Lifeguard Duties and Responsibilities:
- Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled hours
- Regularly treating the pool with the correct amount of chemicals
- Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout the shift
- Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions
- Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safe
- Organizing and overseeing pool parties
- Providing swim lessons and coaching swim team (when applicable)
- Maintaining a clean pool environment
Pool Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain discipline at the swimming pool facility and supervise all staff and facility activities, enforcing staff policies and facility rules
- Maintain staff rotations and enforce staff breaks within compliance of state and federal child labor laws
- Ensure employees under his/her direct supervision are properly trained
- Controls water quality, operation of pool filtration system, and water testing, including recording chemical readings hourly
- Participates in lifeguard rotation between duty stations, as part of daily job responsibilities and/or as needed to meet safety and staffing requirements
- Displays a positive and courteous attitude when enforcing pool rules and regulations
- Recognizes and responds to emergencies according to the American Red Cross Standards; executes rescues and First Aid including spinal injury management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR-AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens certificate
- Must be at least 16 years of age for lifeguard positions (limited positions are available for 15 years old applicants) or at least 18 years of age for pool manager positions
- Pool manager candidates must have two or more years of lifeguard experience
- Must be able to pass ARC Lifeguarding or Shallow Water lifeguarding certification class
- Positive attitude: ready to help others and solve challenges
- Dependable and reliable
- Successful completion of a pre-employment in-water practical skills test
- Must be able to pass background check and drug testing if required
