The Faces Behind the Success of High Sierra Pools
Headquarters

Steve Lavery founded High Sierra Pools Inc. in 1992 and remains involved in every aspect of the business, making sure each customer receives the highest level of service. He provides expert technical and managerial advice to his staff, drawing on more than 33 years of hands -on experience in commercial pool management.

Radek drives the growth and success of our business through new partnerships and exceptional client service. He specializes in client relationship management, communicating effectively with property management companies and commercial facility managers to promote our range of professional pool services.

Richard leads our field operations, employee training and development. With over 15 years of industry experience since joining High Sierra Pools in 2005, Richard is instrumental in our cutting-edge technology initiatives. He holds a Master’s Degree from Charles University in Prague and is a certified CPO Instructor, Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, and Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute.


Veronika is a passionate advocate for aquatic safety and a key leader at High Sierra Pools, where she has worked since 2004. A native of Czechia, she holds degrees in Biology and Physical Education from Pedagogical University. Veronika became an American Red Cross Instructor in 2007 and an Instructor Trainer in 2011. She built High Sierra Pools’ robust safety department, which ensures all lifeguards are exceptionally prepared, well-trained, and maintain their skills throughout the season. Committed to improving not only our company, but the entire industry, Veronika continually pursues education through conferences and seminars. She is a member of the Association of Aquatic Professionals and the National Drowning Prevention Foundation, driving and reinforcing our company’s commitment to the belief that drowning is preventable.

Ana Pesic joined High Sierra Pools in 2015 and has steadily advanced to her current role as Associate Director of Human Resources. She brings a strong academic background, holding a Master’s degree in Human Resources with a focus on organizational development. Ana is committed to overseeing recruitment processes and fostering a positive work environment that actively facilitates professional growth for all team members.



Tsvetelina Miteva has been a valued member of the company since 2010, bringing over 25 years of diverse experience across various industries, including graphic design, education, aquatics, and gymnastics. Driven by a strong commitment to enhancing quality and fostering continuous improvement, she is always eager to acquire new skills and embrace new challenges. Tsvetelina places a high value on diversity, collaboration, and innovation, and is deeply passionate about holistic wellness and energy healing. With her unique perspective, she is dedicated to contributing to a positive and dynamic work environm

As a Human Resources Manager, Cynthia Nuvill brings a powerful blend of academic knowledge and operational experience to High Sierra Pools. Her educational background includes a B.S. in Psychology and a Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University. Cynthia has worked in nearly every facet of the company since starting as a Lifeguard in 2016, holding key roles such as Staffing Coordinator, Supervisor, and Safety Inspector. This broad foundation ensures she deeply understands the needs of the team she supports. Her favorite day of the year is the High Sierra Pools Lifeguard Olympics!

Nela Jovanovic is the HR Manager for High Sierra Pools’ Maryland divisions. She joined the team in 2023, bringing years of dedicated Human Resources experience within the pool industry. With a focus on achieving positive departmental efficiency, Nela specializes in talent management, employee relations, company policy, and training development. She holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Management, along with various HR and Leadership certifications, ensuring workforce strategies always align with organizational goals.

Dominika Kovacikova is a dedicated HR Manager at High Sierra Pools, specializing in international recruitment. She plays a critical role in building and maintaining strong relationships with our global partners. Dominika holds a Counselling and Social Communication degree from Slovakia, and she expertly combines that academic background with her passion for people management to ensure a successful international staffing program.

As the Training and Safety Coordinator, Pavol Szabo is responsible for ensuring High Sierra Pools maintains the highest standards of safety. He has over 12 years of experience in the pool industry, having worked in various positions across our company, as well as the UK, and Slovakia. Pavol’s background includes a Master’s degree in Education (Physical Education and Mathematics) from the University of Matej Bell in Slovakia. His specialized knowledge drives the training programs that prepare all High Sierra lifeguards for their jobs.
Pool Repairs & Construction Team

Chris Criscuolo brings extensive expertise in the pool and spa industry, with over 13 years in equipment distribution and 4 years in direct service. He has a proven track record of optimizing supply chains and streamlining logistics, and is driven by a passion for efficiency and problem-solving. Committed to exceptional client relationships, his diverse background ensures Chris delivers responsive service and consistently exceeds expectations in fast-paced environments.

Senior Service Manager Scott ‘Scooter’ Green is one of our lead project managers, responsible for maintaining excellence in customer service. He started in the pool industry as a gate attendant in the 1980s and joined High Sierra Pools in 2015. With almost 40 years of hands-on experience spanning pool management, construction, renovation, and repair, Scott ensures we are always performing at our best for the customer.

Since joining the Service Department in 2007, Renata Tran has been essential to our success. She leads the process of creating detailed proposals for various services, equipment repairs, and complex pool renovations. Renata is our expert in quoting safety pool covers, relying on her strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure clients receive accurate, clear service plans.
Virginia Team

Aleksandar Zivkovic is the Regional Manager for High Sierra Pools in the Arlington, VA area, overseeing operations for 80 accounts in key neighborhoods like Crystal City, Pentagon City, Rosslyn, and Clarendon. He brings 19 years of swimming pool industry experience, joining High Sierra in 2013 and earning his promotion to Regional Manager in 2022. Aleksandar is dedicated to service excellence, fostering strong client relationships, and continually seeking innovative ways to enhance operations and create safe, enjoyable pool environments.

Damir Trecevski has been a Regional Manager with us since 2015, bringing extensive industry experience and a deep understanding of operations to High Sierra Pools. He started with the company in 2011 as an Area Supervisor, demonstrating a consistent track record of leadership. In his current role, Damir is responsible for developing and implementing division goals, policies, and procedures. He oversees efficient daily operations, staff management, marketing strategies, and proposal presentations, ensuring full compliance with health regulations. He holds AED, CPR, and CPO certifications, alongside advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

With over 15 years of experience in business management, Daniela Vasileva is a key leader at High Sierra Pools, joining the company in 2015. She currently manages one of our largest portfolios in Washington D.C. Daniela uses her Bachelor’s degree and devotion to ensure the company continues its rapid growth and maintains its strong reputation in the region. She is also fluent in Spanish and enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures.


Simona is one of the District Managers for the Hampton Roads Area. She began her career with the company in 2015 as an international student participating in the Summer Work and Travel Program, quickly advancing from Lifeguard to Pool Manager. After moving to the United States and completing her English language teaching and translation studies, Simona served as Area Supervisor and District Supervisor. She now leads a team of Area Supervisors and serves clients across the Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown, and Williamsburg areas.

As a Regional Manager at High Sierra Pools, Uros Jelenkovic is responsible for the successful operation of pool facilities in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. With over 10 years in the aquatic industry, his focus is on operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Uros is an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and an active member of NSPF. This expertise, combined with his degree in computer science, allows him to implement innovative strategies that ensure service excellence and community safety.

Vladimir Popovic is the Regional Manager for the Northern Virginia Area, having risen through the ranks at High Sierra Pools since 2010. Starting as an entry-level lifeguard, his dedication and passion for the industry have been the driving force behind his success. With a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Vladimir is a strong leader known for fostering collaborative environments and building resilient client and team relationships. His commitment to professional growth ensures every challenge is met with enthusiasm and innovative solutions.
Maryland Team

Dejan is the Regional Manager serving North Montgomery and Frederick counties. His extensive career in the pool business began in 2002, and he joined High Sierra Pools in 2008. With years of experience and sharp logistical skills, Dejan is committed to streamlining operations to improve service quality and keep pools safe. Customer satisfaction and safe, efficient pools are his highest priorities.

Milan Stankovic is the Regional Director for Central and North-Central Maryland. His career in the pool industry began in the 2000s as a lifeguard, leading to key roles including Pool Manager, Service Technician, Area Supervisor, and District Manager. This on-the-ground experience is backed by a Master’s degree from the University for Business and Industrial Management Union in Belgrade. Milan has further established his expertise by authoring several articles on pool maintenance, construction, and operations.

As Regional Manager for Montgomery County, Maryland, Milos Atanaskovic is committed to providing reliable service and operational excellence. Joining High Sierra Pools in 2016, he has more than 20 years of experience in commercial pool management. Milos has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking that helps him strategically manage resources and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. His dedication to customer satisfaction and proactive leadership have established him as a trusted industry leader in the region.

Massachusetts Team

Darko Stankovic is the Regional Manager overseeing High Sierra Pools’ MetroWest Division in Massachusetts. Darko has held various positions—including leadership experience in the New York and New Jersey divisions—and has been instrumental in expanding the Massachusetts service area. Darko is responsible for managing customer relationships within his portfolio and overseeing all service projects in the MetroWest area. He holds an MBA from Cambridge College in Massachusetts.

Dobrin serves as a Regional Manager for the Northeast Region of Massachusetts, where he leads his team’s daily operations, overseeing every aspect of the division, including pool renovations, repairs, and ongoing maintenance projects. Dobrin’s attention to detail and dedication to client satisfaction are backed by his comprehensive education, which includes both a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Martin Pekarek is the Regional Director overseeing operations across multiple locations. He has over 20 years of experience in operations and team management. Known for his strategic thinking and people-focused leadership, Martin spearheaded the successful launch of the company’s branch in Boston. He continues to drive significant success and growth for the organization.

Nikola Durovic is the Regional Manager for High Sierra Pools in the Boston area. With a strong background in both operations management and sales strategy, Nikola excels at overseeing multiple locations and implementing innovative solutions to meet client demands. A dedicated leader, he previously worked as a Customer Experience Manager for another pool company and as a Swimming Instructor in Massachusetts. Nikola holds a degree from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports in Serbia.
Pennsylvania & New York Team

As a Regional Manager for High Sierra Pools since 2019, Nikola oversees the operations and customer service for three distinct divisions. Her management experience spans back to 2011, including a successful tenure as a Division Manager within the company. She brings a comprehensive skill set to this role, having previously honed her team leadership and operational efficiency skills in the manufacturing sector. She works closely with each division to ensure seamless pool mechanical services and effective staffing strategies, consistently driving for excellence in both customer satisfaction and operational performance.
