Summer Jobs
LIFEGUARD lifeguard-job-description
Monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent, recognize and manage accidents in and around the swimming pool; maintains pool facility including water quality; and ensures a positive experience for patrons and community members. No experience necessary.
POOL MANAGER pool-manager-job-description
Directly supervises 2-8 employees at the pool. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Past lifeguard experience or management in an aquatic setting is preferred.
Summer Internships
SAFETY INSPECTOR INTERN safety-inspector-intern
Under supervision of the Safety Director, safety inspector inters will monitor, educate, and evaluate the performance of lifeguard staff by enforcing the standards of the American Red Cross, company code of conduct, and applicable laws or county health department codes. Inspectors also organize and conduct on-site inspections, in-service training and lifeguard courses. Responsibilities also include the ongoing inspection of rescue equipment and working conditions at swimming pool facilities to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations. Past lifeguarding experience is a must, and ability to obtain lifeguard trainer certificate is preferred.
HR INTERN human-resources-management-intern
Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, the HR Intern will assist with all daily operations of the Human Resources Department. Interns will learn the practical application of the recruiting and hiring process including: posting job openings, reviewing resumes, conducting online and in-person interviews, and making job offers and placements. Training will be provided on the importance of employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, proper maintenance of employee files, and forms management.
AQUATIC MANAGEMENT INTERN aquatic-management-intern
Under supervision of an assigned program advisor, Aquatic Management Interns (AMI) will learn to supervise, train, schedule and evaluate the staff assigned to a swimming facility; perform lifeguard and related duties; manage the operation of pools or other swimming facilities; and other duties as required. Past lifeguard experience or management in an aquatic setting is preferred.
SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
This internship focuses on showcasing HSP’s recruiting and employment activities and is supervised by a Human Resources advisor with support from our Marketing Department. The ideal applicant will possess strong knowledge of the digital media landscape, including various social media sites including Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. The successful candidate will be responsible for content creation, monitoring and posting on social networks, contributing to the company blog and newsletter, engaging in online forums, and participating in online outreach and promotion.
