- Only applicants and employees for the Summer 2025 season are eligible to participate.
- Both you and the referred person must become employed for Summer 2025 and work a minimum of 75 hours.
- The referred candidate must not be a current employee of High Sierra Pools and can only be referred once.
- The more referrals you make, the more $$$ you earn!
1. Eligibility:
- Only applicants and current employees for the Summer 2026 season are eligible to participate.
- Both you and the referred person must become employed for Summer 2026 and work a minimum of 75 hours.
- The referred candidate must not be a current employee of High Sierra Pools and can only be referred once.
2. Earnings Potential:
- Multi-Guard Pool Lifeguard:
- $75 per referral for hires before June 16, 2026.
- $50 per referral for hires after June 16, 2026.
- Single-Guard Pool Lifeguard:
- $100 per referral, after the referred friend works 100 hours.
- Area Lifeguard or Pool Manager/Assistant Manager
- $150 per referral, after the referred friend works 150 hours.
- Indoor Pool Lifeguard:
- $100 per referral, after the referred friend works 100 hours.
- Bonus for Multiple Referrals:
- Additional $75 if you refer 3 or more friends.
Payment Timeline:
Referral incentives are paid on the pay date following when the referred friend meets the required hours, provided all conditions of employment and referral qualifications are met.
Referral Process Guidelines for Online Applications
At the end of the online application, applicants should select “Referral from a friend” under the question “How did you hear about us?” and enter the name of their referrer in the “Friend name” field.
Only one referrer’s name can be included per application; including more than one will disqualify the referral. If the referrer’s name is not entered during the application process, the application will not be counted as a referral.
The Summer 2026 program closes on August 13; all referral applicants must be hired on or before that date to be eligible. If any of the required conditions is not met, the incentive will not be awarded.

What do lifeguards do on a daily basis?
As a lifeguard, you are the first line of defense for safety at a High Sierra pool. Your responsibilities include:
- Preventing and responding to emergencies in and out of the water.
- Enforcing safety rules and regulations.
- Conducting pool safety and cleanliness checks.
- Testing and recording chemical levels.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of all pool patrons.
Are interviews in-person or virtual?
Interviews are virtual and scheduled via our online assistant, Summer. If you do not schedule an interview yourself, one of our interviewers will reach out to you within 2-3 business days after you apply.
How old do I need to be to be a lifeguard with High Sierra Pools?
All lifeguards must be at least 15 years old to begin work.
Do I have to be certified before I start work?
Yes, all High Sierra Pools lifeguards must be American Red Cross certified before their first day of work.
How much does the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification course cost?
The full cost for a certification course is $275 for non-employees and between $100-$150 for High Sierra Pools employees. The cost for a recertification course is $150 for non-employees and $75 for employees.
What is the difference between a Regular Lifeguarding Certification and a Shallow Water Lifeguarding Certification?
- A Regular Lifeguarding certification allows you to work at any facility that High Sierra Pools operates.
- A Shallow Water Lifeguard certification limits you to pools of a specific depth, which is noted on your certificate.
What course should I register for?
- New Lifeguard: If you have never been certified or your certification has expired more than 30 days ago, register for the Blended Learning Lifeguarding/Shallow Water Lifeguarding course.
- Recertification: If you have an American Red Cross certificate that is either currently valid or expired by no more than 30 days, register for the Lifeguarding Recertification course.
What is the minimum required age to participate in a Lifeguarding course?
You must be at least 15 years old on or before the final day of the course.
What should I bring to the Lifeguarding course?
- Required: Swimsuit, two towels, photo ID, a printed or downloaded handbook, a pen, and paper.
- Recommended: Water, sun lotion, and snacks.
How long is the course?
The blended learning course takes about 28 hours. This includes 6.5 hours of online learning and 21.5 hours of in-person skills sessions.
How do I reschedule the course?
Contact our office at [email protected]. You can reschedule up to 24 hours before the class begins.
When and how will I receive my certificates?
After successfully completing the course, you will receive an email with a link to your digital certification.
What is the refund policy?
Course rescheduling and refund requests must be submitted via email to [email protected].
- You are entitled to a full refund if you cancel your course up to 24 hours before the start time.
- There is a $20 non-refundable fee for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the start time, for no-shows, or for students who do not complete the course.
- If High Sierra Pools cancels a course due to a lack of participants or bad weather, you will receive a full refund or can choose to reschedule.
- Please note, refunds are not issued 30 days after the course date.
What sizes are available for the uniforms?
Uniforms come in a wide range of sizes. We provide t-shirts, swim trunks, cover-up shorts, one-piece and two-piece swimsuits, hoodies, sweatpants, jackets, and hats. You will be able to select your uniform size at a scheduled pick-up time.
How can I pay for my uniform?
You can pay for your uniform with a credit card, cash, or check at any of our offices or at a scheduled uniform pick-up date.
How will I be scheduled?
You will be scheduled based on the availability you submitted on your job application.
How can I submit a time off request?
You can submit a limited number of weekly schedule requests online through the “HSP HEROES” scheduling website. To change your standing availability, you must submit a written request to Human Resources for approval.
When will my schedule be posted?
Schedules are generally posted by noon on Friday for the week that begins on Monday.
How do I receive my schedule?
You can receive your schedule via email or by logging in to the HSP Heroes website. You can also opt-in to receive text notifications. It is your responsibility to verify your schedule each week, as schedules may change.
What is an I-9 form, and how do I fill it out?
The I-9 form is a required federal document that verifies your identity and eligibility to work in the United States. To fill it out, you provide personal information and must show an employer original documents that prove your identity and work authorization.
To verify work eligibility for an I-9 form, you can provide one document from List A, or one document each from List B and List C.

- List B (Establishes Identity Only):
- Driver’s license or state ID card
- School ID card with a photo

How will I receive my employment paperwork?
Your paperwork will be sent to you via email from airSlate. The sender’s email will be [email protected]. If you are expecting paperwork, check your spam folder or contact our HR department directly to confirm it was sent.
When will I be given the employee handbook?
You will receive your employee handbook when you pick up your uniform.
What information is available in the employee handbook?
The employee handbook contains important information about company policies and procedures. It outlines guidelines on topics such as safety, uniforms, scheduling, payroll, and more. You must read the handbook completely before starting work.
What is the role of my Supervisor?
Your Area Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safety and operations of multiple pools. They will be in regular contact with you to provide support, answer questions, and ensure your facility is running smoothly.
What is the role of my Staffing Coordinator?
Your Staffing Coordinator manages your schedule and placement. They will be in regular contact with you to provide weekly schedules, schedule updates, and address any of your scheduling requests.
What is the role of my HR Manager?
Your HR Manager oversees the hiring, training, and support of all staff. You can contact your HR Manager with any HR-related questions or concerns.
